Arrival

Good Juju Tattoo is located at 240 S 500 W.

New parking information as of Jan 2025 - Please park as close as possible to the awning in the image, you can use any lot. At your appointment time I’ll come out and hand you a parking pass to place on your dashboard. When your appointment is over I’ll come down with you to retrieve it.

If you’re early please wait in your car until your session time. When you arrive, dm me and I’ll come meet you under the awning beneath the “Artspace” letters. If we’ve been communicating another way, please text 801-410-0526

No guests please. I’ve found that pain is an inward journey and having an additional social factor keeps us focused outward. I also like to dedicate all of my attention to your needs and I get distracted having another person there.

If you’re running late please just let me know via dm or text.

Masks are not currently required.

Tattoo Prep

The week before:

Eat and rest well. Avoid sun exposure as much as possible, as sunburnt skin cannot be tattooed.

The day before:

Drink lots of water and try to get 8 hours of sleep. The morning of your session, make sure to eat a large meal. My personal favorite is to eat potatoes or bread beforehand since they’re grounding and calming foods. Avoid caffeine if possible, restlessness and movement can drastically affect the duration of your session.

Please don’t shave the tattoo area with a razor, but if you’d like to use clippers with a close guard on hairier areas this is incredibly helpful.

Feel free to bring headphones. Books, laptops, and other work is welcome but not advised as it’s incredibly difficult to focus on anything while being tattooed. I have no problem at all with you being on your phone during your session.

Some tips for stamina and pain management:

Pain is an inward journey. I’m here to guide you there. Practicing complete stillness of mind the week leading up to your appointment can help tremendously. Other things that help are cold showers to regulate your shock response, exercise to get connected to your body, and massage.

If the area is particularly painful, I recommend either tylenol, kratom, or in some circumstances numbing creams. Feel free to message me about this if you have concerns, and please definitely let me know if you wish to use numbing creams. I do not recommend it for hand, feet, skull, or face tattoos.

Aftercare

For saran wrap aftercare, leave on for a few hours or until morning. Then skip to the information after *

For second skin aftercare, leave on for at least a day, no more than 5 days. 2-3 days max seems to have the best results. I do not recommend re-applying another wrap after the first has been removed.

Avoid sweating under the wrap. Swimming is still extremely risky even with a wrap on.

Refrain from sweat inducing exercise during healing especially while the wrap is on.

When showering with your second skin, check the plasma under the second skin before getting into the shower so you know if shower water has gotten inside. If water gets inside take it off asap. It’s definitely a good idea to keep the area away from water until you’re ready to take it off.

If you experience a rash or redness around the edge of the second skin, take it off after one day.

* To take off any wrap, get in a hot shower with your soap of choice. Dial gold is the industry standard as it’s antibacterial, but Dr.Bronners works great as well.

The hot water will hurt, but as long as it’s not scalding hot the tattoo will be okay. The hot water helps to melt the adhesive in second skin wraps.

Put antibacterial soap in your palm and work the wrap off from the edge. I recommend doing this in the morning so your tattoo can air out a bit during the day.

Once the wrap is off, wash lightly.

Make sure to use a clean towel or paper towels every time you dry it off for at least a week.

Pat dry, don’t rub with the towel. Allow a few minutes of air drying after this.

Once fully dry, apply a thin layer of ointment. it should just be a light sheen, not a coating of ointment. i personally prefer aquaphor. After the first few days you can use lotion or shea butter. I’ve seen good results with lotions with the exception of anything that has essential oils or coconut oil as an ingredient.

Wash and ointment 1-2 times daily. 2 times max unless exposed to bacteria like touching or pet contact etc.

Make sure to never submerge your tattoo in water until after two weeks.

Steam (saunas, hot tubs, hot springs, hot yoga) can easily cause an infection as well.

The tattoo will peel, please do not pick it.

The tattoo will itch, please do not scratch it.

Slapping your tattoo with clean hands is okay, but can sometimes make the itching worse.

Itching, picking, or rubbing will pull the ink out of your tattoo, and undo hours of work and pain we’ve both put in.

Please avoid this at all costs.

Pets are the leading cause of tattoo infections.

I recommend wearing a long sleeve or long pants at night to prevent fur or sleeping partners from touching your tattoo.

If any fabric ever heals into your tattoo- immediately get into the shower with the item of fabric. Don’t peel the fabric off if it’s stuck.

Message me any time with healing questions and I’ll be happy to help.

Please send a healed photo after two weeks, I love to see how my work heals.

Thank you for your trust and your time, I hope to do many more tattoos together!

Love, Marie
